Indoctrinating our children to hate Jews

This video on YouTube is posted on the MEMRI site. It has been the reason behind banning the channel in France. In the video, the pathetic ignorant presenter is pushing the 3 yrs old kid to pronounce her hate to Jews, and citing the story of poisoning the prophet by Zeinab Bint AlHareth (Arabic link). This doesn't represent me, and I hope it doesn't represent the majority of Moslems either in Egypt or other Moslem countries. I felt disgusted after watching it. We shouldn't (and I hope most of us don't) hate Jews, or the followers of any religion! Our problem with Israel is about a piece of real estate. Stop turning it into a religious war...!

P.S. Did you note the veil worn by the 3 yrs old child????

Haram! Haram!!!

I've seen this video before and it shakes me to my soul every time I see it! I have a beautiful nephew about the same age and I couldn't imagine a different upbringing. My nephew has been taught to love and not hate. The word "hate" isn't even in his vocabulary and, insha'allah, never will be.

I weep for the future of this child while the commentator was praising it. Does anyone think this poor child can think for herself as she recites her programmed answers?? If this is our future, then we're done! And this is the Saudi/Wahabbi culture that so many Egyptians love? This is not Egyptian thinking!

You know, if we can't beat'em then maybe we should join'em? You should start your own program to indoctrinate little children to like the Jews and especially Israelis and become their friends. How different and refreshing would that be?

And your responses to my comments are not unnoticed or unappreciated - I enjoy corresponding with you :)

Salaam good friend.

Thanks for your comments Peter, I always enjoy them dear friend.

I wonder if the situation was reversed and this was an Israeli girl been pushed to voice her hate to Moslems because God made them monkeys and pigs!!!

I wish we all treat others the same way we want to be treated, and yes, as I mentioned in another post, I intend -later in my life, to start a series of model schools with the values of tolreance at the center of the curriculum.

Sounds like a wonderful initiative and I, of course, wish you the best of luck in such a nobel cause! We share and dream of a very similar vision for Egypt.

Well, on my next visit to Cairo I hope to share an ehwa/stella/shisha with you one day Mr. Masr, until then I'm content with reading your blog :)

Dear NahdetMasr, Egypeter,

though Iam against religious intolerance and the way we raise our children, I find you not subjective about this, because this is a global problem. You wander in your comment what would happen if the situation was reversed, check this just to find out that it is indeed reversed everyday http://www.informationliberation.com/?id=13453
and though I personally find it rather shocking I still join you in this and wish we be more tolerant here....and there!!!

Peter,

Thanks for the invitation; actually, I will be in the US soon, but won't go near IL, rather west to CA! who knows, maybe will meet someday, I will hold you to your ahwa, but in Starbucks rather than Hussein ;-)

Anonymous,

Thanks for stopping by; I saw the link, it's awful, I will comment on it in my next post, however, two wrongs don't make a right. I still wouldn't want to educate my children to hate other people because they are "different" in anyway. I am not trying to be objective (I guess that's what you meant not subjective), as a human being, I can't be. There are certain things that I believe in, and I would always be biased towards them, I voice my opinions against intolerance, extremism, and ignorance. I love Egypt as I saw it during the 1970s and 1980s as a kid and teenager, and I hate certain aspects of Egypt since 1990s. I will always post to this end; namely, voicing my opinions on those things.
